On Tuesday, a three-year-old boy jumped into a bush 170 feet below from a window on the 17th floor of a Chicago apartment building. Police and child welfare officials are investigating the cause of his death.

Lamar Roach Jr. (Lamar Roach Jr.), a 3-year-old from Chicago, may have pushed the screen window and fell from the 17th-floor apartment building in the 1100 block of LaSalle Avenue in the North District of the city. It is estimated that the 17th floor is about 170 feet high.

The Chicago Police Department told DailyMail.com on Wednesday that the window screens had been pulled inward.

At around 10:30 in the evening, Lamar was found unresponsive in the bushes and was taken to the Luli Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to reports, the little boy fell into the bushes outside the apartment building and was found unresponsive

According to CBS 2 reports, he was not alone at the time of the incident. 

The Chicago Police Department and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services are investigating his death as an accident.

The authorities said that no one is currently being detained. 

The Cook County Forensic Medical Office said an autopsy will be conducted on Thursday.

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is also investigating the cause of the boy’s death, spokesperson Bill McCaffrey told the Chicago Tribune. 

McCaffrey said the state agency had not contacted the boy's family before.
